Over the years, Ian has worked on both sides of the camera on various film and television projects.
These have included providing authentic props to Time Team, Digging For Britain and Fanny Lye Deliver'd to name a few.
He also appeared as the Ironworker for Channel 4's Time Crashers series, demonstrating Iron Age blacksmithing.
Ian also appeared as a blacksmith on the Disney film Maleficent (scenes later cut).
Having developed a fascination with the past from an early age, Ian has successfully combined his passion for history with his profession and can now offer an accurate view of blacksmithing from a variety of historical time periods. Using tools and equipment either made by Ian or, in the case of his World War 1 display, tools from the era itself, Ian is able to demonstrate and talk about the history of blacksmithing from the early Iron Age right through to the end of World War 1 and the start of the art deco period.
